Wineries New England High Country

The New England High Country region is perfect for a day of driving through the countryside and checking out our many Wineries and Breweries.

A great snapshot of our region is Scenic Drive 19, which takes you past Peterson’s winery, Dangars Falls, Gostwyck Chapel and into Uralla where you can check out the New England Brewery Company and Why Worry Wines. Warmly recommended is to visit these areas in Autumn when nature shows off an explosion of magnificent colours. Peterson’s winery is a very popular wedding destination and offers luxury accommodation and is a great place for a relaxed wine tasting while learning about the region. Peterson’s offers a wide selection of cool climate wines and specialises in Pinot Noir, Merlot and Shiraz among others. Their cellar door is well known in the region and is open for lunch on weekends. Peterson’s is also the venue for when Day On The Green comes to town.

Another gorgeous wedding venue and fantastic restaurant is Merilba Estate. Head here on a lazy summers Sunday afternoon for a long lunch out in the vineyards, and to enjoy a wine tasting. Make sure to try their own cider too, brewed under the name New England Cider Co.

New England Brewing Company is located next to Top Pub in Uralla, and was established back in 2012. Head here on a Saturday for a combined pizza lunch and beer tasting. Their range of tasty craft beers will impress you, so make sure you grab a couple of bottles to bring home and share with your friends. A favourite is their Pale Ale that is always on the menu, and besides this they always have a selection of year around and seasonal beer.

If you’ve got the time, head out to Dobson’s Distillery at Eastview Estate. With internationally acclaimed Whiskeys, Gins, and wines, and an amazing chef, you won’t be disappointed. Their kitchen offers a great example of New England produce and is well worth a visit.
